are labels from the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Here they are approximate practice bands; completing a quiz does not establish your CEFR level. Not sure of your level?
CEFR describes language ability. TOEIC and TOEFL are tests linked to those levels. These are reference comparisons, not predicted scores from your English Road quiz.
| CEFR | TOEIC Listening + Reading | TOEFL iBT Current 1–6 scale |
|---|---|---|
| A1 | 120+L 60 · R 60 | 1–1.5≈ 0–23 / 120 |
| A2 | 225+L 110 · R 115 | 2–2.5≈ 24–43 / 120 |
| B1 | 550+L 275 · R 275 | 3–3.5≈ 44–71 / 120 |
| B2 | 785+L 400 · R 385 | 4–4.5≈ 72–94 / 120 |
| C1 | 945+L 490 · R 455 | 5–5.5≈ 95–113 / 120 |
| C2 | Not mapped | 6≈ 114–120 / 120 |
TOEIC: totals out of 990 sum ETS’s recommended listening (L) and reading (R) minimums. Both section scores matter; a total alone can hide a weaker skill. These are guidelines. Speaking and Writing use separate scales; this mapping does not establish C2.
TOEFL: the 1–6 scale applies from January 21, 2026. The smaller figures combine ETS’s comparable 0–120 ranges; they are not the historical CEFR cut-offs. Overall scores can hide differences between skills.
